Ladycross Infant and Nursery School

PE and Sport Premium

“Playing sport helps to keep people healthy and is good for communities. Playing sport at school or in a local club is also the first step to competition at the highest level, which helps improve our reputation as a sporting nation, and contributes to economic growth.

But when people leave school they often stop playing sports, which means people can’t fulfil their sporting potential, and can lead to a less healthy lifestyle. We want to get more people playing sport safely from a young age, and help them keep playing sport throughout their life, no matter what their economic or social background.”

– From the ‘Department for Culture, Media & Sport and Department for Education’

During the 2019/20 academic year, school is expecting to receive £17390 as part of the governments ‘Primary PE and sport premium’ funding.

This funding is given to increase the number of children playing sport and who have access to good quality coaching or provision.

We aim for this funding to have a sustainable impact on the quality of provision at Ladycross Infant School, as well as a sustainable increase in the number of pupils accessing extended sports provision both at school and outside of school. This will be achieved through good quality professional development for teaching staff, investment in high quality apparatus to enable effective learning across all areas of the PE curriculum, the development of a core stability programme through our early years setting and also forging stringer links with clubs in the local community.

How Ladycross uses the sport premium to deliver sustainable improvements in PE and sport activities:

Every child in our school receives 2 hours of physical education each week, and a minimum of 30 minutes structured physical activity daily, in addition to any physical afterschool clubs they attend. The PDF below details how we ensure every child achieves a minimum of 30 minutes per day structured activity.
