Spring 2 What is exciting about where I live?


In maths this half term, we will be focussing on numbers to 50. We will also be looking at how to measure length and height and how we can start to measure mass and capacity. 
In writing this half term we will continue to use The Write Stuff approach. We will continue to build up our writing resilience and will start this term by using the rather wonderful book, The Comet. 
In phonics we will be focussing on the different ways the sounds /or/, /s/, /j/ /e/, /s/, /k/, /sh/ can be made. We will also be  focussing on the following  common exception words: once, please, oh, their, people, Mr, Mrs, looked, called.
In science we will be learning about which plants grow here in Sandiacre. We will be learning about the different parts of plant and trees  and planting some seeds to see what will happen!
In history we will be investigating whether we think that Nottingham Castle is a real castle. We will be investigating what buildings need to be castles and deciding at the end of the unit what we think.
Our topic in Art this term is called Woven Wonders. We will be using different media to weave and trying to define what art is!
In ICT lessons, we will be learning how to code!
In RE this half term, we are learning all about how special and sacred times are celebrated in different faiths.
In PSHE this half term we are learning all about what it means to be a good citizen.
In music this half term we are learning about rhythmic patterns, how to recognise timbre and how to keep the pulse. 
In PE we will be learning skills that are needed to play different invasion games and will be completing a unit on dance.
