Ladycross Infant and Nursery School

Nature Area

Over the Summer of 2021 a magical transformation has been happening at Ladycross Infant School! Our Nature Area had become very overgrown and unloved. We even had an old toilet seat thrown into it from the jitty next door! Some of the staff formed a gardening committee and, together with the Tesco Community Champion scheme, we set to work on creating a magical, sensory and inviting space for our Ladycross children to learn in. So far we have a WIld Wood, a dry river bed (complete with a bridge to trip trap over), a rockery pond feature, a bug hotel and a sensory path. What a wonderful place for our children to explore, learning about Science, Art and English, as well as much more!

This could not have been possible without the hard work of volunteers, including staff, their family members, governors (and family) and Tesco staff. Look at the photos to see the amazing transformation. If you are as impressed as we are, please log onto www.tescoreviews.com and enter the code 3297. At the end of the form there is a section for specific comments. Positive comments about the work the Tesco Community Team have done will give the store points. These will equate to more funding to allow the Community Team to continue their amazing work.

The hard work doesn't stop here! We still have more to do to make our Nature Area complete. If you are interested in helping out then please let us know.  We are hoping to improve the sensory paths around the garden.  You don't need to be green-fingered, just willing to work hard! If you would like to join us, please let your child's class teacher know. They can then let the Gardening Committee know to expect you. We do have some gardening equipment but if you have some of your own that you can bring, then please do.

We hope our Ladycross children enjoy the space as much as we have enjoyed creating it!
